ANXIETY THERAPY
Anxiety doesn’t have to
run your life
Does any of this sound familiar?
Anxiety looks different for everyone. For some people it’s loud and urgent. For others it hides in plain sight, quietly shaping every decision, every conversation, every night of broken sleep.
You might recognize yourself in some of these:
Your mind races through worst-case scenarios.
You feel on edge even when nothing is technically wrong.
Your body carries the tension before your brain even catches up.
You avoid things you know would be good for you, just to feel safer.
Sleep is hard to come by, or rest doesn’t feel restful.
You hold it together for everyone else and fall apart in private.
These aren’t personality quirks or things to push through. They’re signs that you deserve some real support.
How anxiety therapy can help
Anxiety therapy is not about positive thinking or pretending problems away. It is about noticing the automatic thoughts that shape your emotional life, looking honestly at whether they are helping or hurting, and learning to respond in ways that serve you better. Because so much of what keeps us stuck happens on autopilot, simply seeing those patterns clearly is often the first real relief.
Research shows therapy can be as effective as medication for many people with anxiety and depression, and the skills learned in therapy tend to keep working long after therapy ends.
Our therapists tailor evidenced-based approaches to you rather than handing over a one-size-fits-all worksheet. They also draw on related approaches when it helps, including somatic therapy for stress your body is holding, mindfulness based methods to build presence, and trauma therapy when past experiences are part of the picture. The work fits you, not the other way around.
How we help and support you
Anxiety isn’t a character flaw or a sign that something is permanently broken in you. It’s your nervous system trying to protect you, and it’s learned some patterns that are no longer serving you. Therapy gives you a space to understand those patterns and start changing them in ways that actually stick.
Our therapists draw on approaches that are grounded in research and adapted to who you are.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps you identify and shift the thought patterns fueling your anxiety.
Somatic therapy works with the physical experience of anxiety in your body, not just your mind.
For anxiety rooted in past experiences, trauma therapy and EMDR can help you process what’s underneath without having to relive it in detail.
We also weave in mindfulness and nervous system regulation tools that you can use in your real life, between sessions.
What changes with the right support:
Recognize your anxiety triggers before they take over.
Respond to stress from a steadier, more grounded place.
Build relationships that feel more connected and less fraught.
Sleep better, think more clearly, and feel more like yourself.
Move toward the things that matter to you instead of away from them.

Common questions about anxiety therapy
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
If anxiety is affecting your relationships, your sleep, your work, or just your ability to feel okay on a regular basis, that’s enough of a reason to reach out to an anxiety therapist. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from counseling. Many people find that starting sooner makes the work easier and the results more lasting.
What does therapy actually look like?
It depends on you and your therapist. Most anxiety counseling sessions involve identifying patterns that are keeping you stuck and building skills to respond differently. Depending on your needs, your therapist might draw on CBT, somatic approaches, trauma therapy, EMDR, or mindfulness practices. It’s collaborative, not prescriptive.
How long does it take to feel better?
Some people notice shifts within the first few sessions. Deeper or longer-standing anxiety usually takes more time. Most clients at our Bay Area offices work with us for several months, though the pace is always guided by what’s actually helpful for you.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes. Therapy for Every Body is in-network with Cigna and Aetna at all of our locations in San Jose, Santa Clara, Fremont, Oakland, and Morgan Hill. If you have a different plan, we can provide documentation for out-of-network reimbursement.
Can I do sessions online?
Yes. We offer telehealth anxiety counseling for individuals, couples, teens, and families anywhere in California. Online sessions are just as effective as in-person care for anxiety treatment and work well for clients who prefer flexibility or live outside our Bay Area office locations.
What if I've tried therapy before, and it didn't help?
A lot of factors shape whether anxiety therapy helps you, including fit with your therapist, timing, and approach. If something didn’t click before, we’d want to understand why and find a better match. Our free 15-minute consultation is a good place to start that conversation.
You don’t have to keep feeling this way
Anxiety can make it hard to imagine things being different. But feeling differently is possible, and it usually starts with one conversation.
We’re here when you’re ready.
