Neurodiversity Support

Your brain isn’t a problem to be solved.

Maybe you’ve spent a long time feeling like you were working twice as hard to keep up with things that seem to come easily to everyone else. Whether you’re on the autism spectrum, have ADHD, identify as neurodivergent in another way, or are still sorting out what fits, our therapists offer support that starts from respect for how your mind actually works. We meet with clients in person in San Jose, Santa Clara, Fremont, Oakland, and Morgan Hill, and online throughout California.

LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy

Does any of this sound familiar?

Neurodivergence shows up differently in every person. Some people have known since childhood. Others are only now putting words to a lifetime of feeling slightly out of step, often after years of being called too much, too sensitive, too scattered, or not living up to their potential. However you arrived here, these experiences are common.

Z
You mask or perform to get through social situations, and it leaves you exhausted
Z
Focus feels impossible on some things and all consuming on others
Z

Sensory input that others shrug off: sound, light, texture, crowds, can feel like too much

Z
You’ve been told you’re smart but you “just need to apply yourself,” and it never felt that simple
Z
Routines and transitions are harder than people realize, and being thrown off can unravel a whole day
Z
Rejection, criticism, or feeling left out can land with an intensity that’s hard to explain
Z
You’ve wondered whether something is wrong with you, when really you’ve been navigating a world that wasn’t built for you

You’re not broken, and you don’t have to keep white-knuckling your way through. Support can make a real difference.

How neurodiversity affirming therapy can help

A neurodiversity affirming approach starts from a simple premise: your brain is a valid way of being human, not a defect to correct. The goal isn’t to make you act more neurotypical. It’s to help you understand how you’re wired, work with your own patterns instead of against them, and build a life that fits you. For many people, that shift alone, from self-blame to self-understanding, changes everything.

Our therapists tailor support to you rather than handing over a one-size-fits-all plan. That might include CBT adapted for neurodivergent thinking, where we adjust the pace and the assumptions to fit how you process. It might include somatic therapy to help with sensory regulation and the stress your nervous system carries. Mindfulness based methods can support emotional regulation in ways that respect rather than override how you experience the world. And for those carrying trauma, including the quieter trauma of years spent masking or being misunderstood, trauma therapy or EMDR can help. The work is collaborative, and you stay in the driver’s seat.

What some clients say

“For the first time, a therapist didn’t try to fix me. She helped me understand why certain things have always been hard, and that alone took so much weight off. I stopped feeling like I was failing at being normal.”

“My son is on the autism spectrum, and I was nervous about finding someone who would actually get him. His therapist met him exactly where he was, at his pace, on his terms. He looks forward to going now, which I never expected.”

“Doing sessions online has been a game changer for me. No noisy waiting room, no overwhelming drive, just me at home with my dog. It made it possible to actually keep showing up.”

Neurodiversity affirming therapy in person near you and online

Both in-person and online sessions are full offerings here, not lesser versions of each other. Some clients want a calm room to land in. Others do their best work from home, where the sensory environment is theirs to control. Either way, you’re choosing what supports you.

Common questions about neurodiversity affirming therapy

What does neurodiversity affirming therapy actually mean?

It means we treat neurodivergence as a natural variation in how human brains work, not a disorder to be cured. The work focuses on self-understanding, practical support, and helping you build a life that fits you, rather than pushing you to appear more neurotypical. Our Bay area therapist, including in San Jose and Santa Clara, bring this lens to every session.

Do I need a formal diagnosis to start?

No. Plenty of our clients come to us self-identified, questioning, or somewhere in between, and that’s completely welcome. Therapy can be a good place to explore what fits without any pressure to label yourself. If you do want to pursue a formal assessment, we can talk through options.

Can therapy help with ADHD specifically?

Yes. Therapy can help with the focus, transitions, time, and overwhelm challenges that come with ADHD, and just as importantly with the self-blame that often builds up over years. We adapt approaches like CBT and mindfulness based methods to work with an ADHD brain rather than against it. Medication is a separate question for a prescriber, and we’re happy to collaborate on that.

Do you work with autistic children and teens?

We do. Our therapists across the Bay Area support verbal children and teens on the autism spectrum, and their families, always at the young person’s pace and on their terms. We assess whether talk therapy is the right fit for your child. We focus on understanding and support rather than trying to make a kid mask or perform, and we partner with parents who want to show up well for their child.

Can we do this online?
Yes. We offer telehealth throughout California, which many neurodivergent clients prefer because it removes the sensory and social load of getting to an office. It works well for individuals, teens, and families, and the quality of the work doesn’t suffer for being on a screen.
What if I've tried therapy before and felt misunderstood?

That’s a common reason people come to us, and it’s worth naming. A lot of neurodivergent folks have sat across from a therapist who didn’t quite get how they were wired. An affirming approach starts from a different place, and the free consultation is a low-stakes way to feel out whether this fits before you commit to anything.

You Don’t Have to Keep Doing This Alone

When you’ve spent years feeling out of step, it can be hard to believe that therapy will be any different. You get to decide if it’s a fit for you. The first step is just a conversation, at your pace, with someone who starts from respect for how your mind works.

We’re here when you’re ready.
