IFS Therapy
All of You Is Welcome Here
There is the part of you that wants to change, and the part that keeps doing the old thing anyway. The part that pushes hard, and the part that wants to hide. None of it means something is wrong with you. Internal Family Systems therapy helps you understand these different parts with curiosity instead of frustration, so they can stop working against each other. Our therapists offer IFS in San Jose, Santa Clara, Fremont, Oakland, and Morgan Hill, and through telehealth across California.
This approach might be a fit if
We all carry parts of ourselves that seem to pull in different directions. A part that wants closeness and a part that fears it. A part that drives you forward and a part that quietly tells you it will never be enough. IFS sees all of these parts as trying, in their own way, to protect you, even when their methods cause pain. The work is not to silence them but to understand them.
You notice an inner critic that is relentless, and pushing back at it has not helped
You feel torn between parts of yourself that seem to want opposite things
You find yourself reacting in ways you do not fully understand or like
Old protective patterns from your past keep showing up in your present
You have done talk therapy and want to go somewhere deeper
You want a relationship with yourself that feels less like a battle
You do not have to know where to start. Getting curious about what is happening inside you is the start.
How IFS therapy can help
Internal Family Systems is built on a simple, hopeful idea: underneath all the protective parts, there is a core self in every person that is calm, compassionate, and whole. That self is not damaged, no matter what you have been through. The work of IFS is to help you lead from there.
Rather than treating difficult emotions or behaviors as problems to eliminate, your therapist helps you turn toward the parts of you that carry them. As those parts feel understood, they begin to relax, and the patterns they have been holding in place start to loosen. Our therapists are trained across a range of approaches, including CBT, somatic therapy, mindfulness based methods, and EMDR for trauma-linked experiences, and many weave IFS together with these in a way that fits you rather than handing you a fixed protocol.

What our clients say
“I spent years trying to shut down my inner critic. Learning to understand it instead of fight it changed everything. I did not expect that.”
“IFS gave me language for things I had felt my whole life but never knew how to name. The work felt slow in a good way, never rushed.”
“I started online because I was nervous about the whole thing. My therapist made it feel safe to look at parts of myself I usually avoid.”
