Adult therapy

Adult Therapy

You don’t have to hold all of it alone

Maybe you have been managing for a long time, keeping things running, showing up for everyone, while quietly carrying more than anyone sees. Therapy is a place to set some of that down and be met with care. At Therapy for Every Body, our therapists support adults in San Jose, Santa Clara, Fremont, Oakland, and Morgan Hill, and through telehealth anywhere in California.

Adult therapy

Does any of this sound familiar?

Reaching out as an adult can feel strange, like you should have this figured out by now. But the pressures of work, relationships, parenting, identity, and the weight of years can build quietly, and the signs are not always loud. Sometimes it looks less like crisis and more like running on empty.

Z

You feel stretched thin, like you are meeting everyone’s needs but your own.

Z

You are going through a transition, a move, a breakup, a loss, a new chapter, and feel unsteady in it.

Z

You feel disconnected from yourself, unsure what you actually want or feel.

Z

Stress or worry has become the background hum of most days.

Z

Old patterns keep showing up in your relationships and you are tired of repeating them.

Z

Something happened, recently or long ago, that you have not had space to process.

If any of this lands, you are not behind and you are not broken. You are a person carrying real things, and you do not have to sort through them by yourself.

How adult therapy can help

Therapy is not only for moments of crisis. It is a steady, private space to understand yourself more clearly, work through what is weighing on you, and build a life that feels more like your own. Whatever brought you here is worth attention, and seeking support is a sign of strength, not failure.

Our therapists draw on approaches with strong evidence behind them and match the work to your needs in each session and overall. Techniques can include cognitive behavioral therapy to shift unhelpful thought patterns, somatic therapy to work with stress and tension your body has been holding, mindfulness based methods to help you feel more present, and trauma therapy when past experiences still carry a charge. Your therapist tailors the approach to your story and your goals.

What some clients say

“I almost didn’t reach out because I figured my problems weren’t bad enough. My therapist never made me feel that way. We just started where I was.”

“I went in thinking I needed to fix one thing. What I actually found was a clearer sense of why I kept ending up in the same place.”

“Doing sessions online from home was what made it possible with my schedule. I wasn’t sure it would feel real, but it did.”

Online therapy works for adults anywhere in California. For many people, starting from home lowers the barrier. There is no commute after a long day, no waiting room, just a private hour that fits into the life you are already living.

Common questions about adult therapy

How do I know if I actually need therapy?

There is no threshold you have to cross first. If something is weighing on you, taking up space in your head, or getting in the way of how you want to live, that is reason enough. Many adults we see in San Jose, Santa Clara, and other bay area office come in not because of a crisis but because they want to understand themselves better and feel more steady.

What does adult therapy actually look like?

Usually it is a weekly hour with the same therapist, in person or online, where you talk and they help you make sense of things. Depending on what you are working on, your therapist might draw on CBT, somatic work, mindfulness, or trauma therapy. It is a real conversation with structure underneath it, with some gentle nudges for you to choose change, but without advice or control.

How long will I need to be in therapy?

It depends on what you are working on. Some people come for a focused stretch around a specific challenge, others stay longer for deeper or ongoing support. You and your therapist revisit this together, and you are always in charge of the pace.

Do you accept insurance?

We accept several insurance plans and are happy to talk through coverage and options during your free intake consultation, so the cost piece is clear before you begin. Reach out to the office any time for help or clarification.

Can I do therapy online?
Yes. We offer telehealth throughout California, so you can meet with a therapist from home or anywhere private. Many adults find online sessions easier to sustain alongside work and family.
I tried therapy before and it didn't help. Why would this be different?

A lot comes down to fit, and a poor match the first time does not mean therapy cannot work for you. Every therapist is different, and how you feel when you’re talking with them is the most important factor.

Something better is possible

When you have been carrying things for a while, it can be hard to picture them feeling any lighter. You do not have to take that on faith. The first step is not a commitment to anything except a single conversation, and you can decide everything else from there.

We’re here when you’re ready.

It starts with a free 15-minute consultation. No commitment, no pressure.
